Know Your Organ – LIVER

Harshad Sathe, Cofounder, Viecell Institute of Regenerative Medicine

The liver is the second largest organ in the human body, next only to the skin. It performs hundreds of vital functions that contribute to our overall health, making it one of the most important organs in the body. An average adult liver weighs around 3 pounds and is located on the upper right side of the body, behind the lower ribs. The liver is divided into two main lobes, each with eight segments that contain 1000 smaller lobes or lobules. Almost all of the blood in the body passes through the liver. At any given time, the liver holds 1 pint of blood, which is approximately 13% of the body's total blood supply.

As the blood passes through the Liver, the organ

The primary function of the liver is detoxification of the blood by,

  1. Removing waste and deteriorating cells.

  2. Absorbing and storing nutrients.

  3. Regulating the process of clotting.

  4. Filtering and processing chemicals in food and medicine.

  5. Breaking down excess hemoglobin and insulin.

  6. Deactivates poisons and toxins like ammonia and bilirubin.

  7. Producing cholesterol and critical proteins for blood plasma.

  8. Producing bile, that helps the body absorb fat and eliminate waste.

Liver Diseases are caused by,

  1. Genetic Disorder

  2. Viruses

  3. Heavy Drug

  4. Alcohol consumption

Liver failure is not overnight, it develops over a period. It could gradually occur due to diseases like Hepatitis C, Liver Cirrhosis, and Liver Cancer.

Acute Liver failure is an exceptional condition that happens suddenly due to Poisoning or Drug Overdose.

Liver Failure is a life-threatening condition, and usually, a transplant is suggested for such patients, since it plays a vital role in the functioning of the body.

Viecell Institute of Regenerative Medicine is a biotech company specializing in cell therapy. At Viecell, doctors and scientists work on patients who are suffering from liver diseases, which are often life-threatening. Patients who come to Viecell undergo a multi-modality treatment approach, which includes cell therapy, micro-biome correction, brainwave entrainment, cell support supplements, and other necessary medications. This approach has been proven to be successful in most cases. The time frame for treatment varies depending on the patient, usually ranging from three to six months. The procedure takes approximately two to three hours on the day of admission, with additional cycles on pre-decided future days with intervals of seven, fifteen, twenty, and thirty days respectively.

It is clinically recommended to evaluate the improvement in liver functionality 120 days after the start of the treatment. However, patients may start feeling specific changes like an increase in food appetite, reduced brain fog, increased energy levels, and regular bowel habits after 60-80 days of treatment.

It is suggested to undergo a minimum of 3 cycles for the disease in its preliminary stage for effective treatment. For advanced stages, the treatment can go up to 6 cycles. The entire treatment is done using minimally invasive techniques, and no major surgery is required. The patient is provided with a diet chart for 90 days, and necessary changes are made from time to time. A well-balanced diet plays a crucial role in treating liver-related disorders. It is important to note that the liver is the fastest regenerating organ in our body, and it responds positively to regenerative treatments such as Cell Therapy.
