“Curiosity should never be ignored!” quotes S.S. It empowers a human being and helps a person sort out life. Graduating from BMS, students usually opt for an MBA which everyone thought I would too. However, my keen curiosity in connecting the dots with photography and marketing led me to study commercial photography at Shari Academy, which opened more expansive windows for a career. Today I earn my meals by clicking still life and products, which gives me a good night's sleep at night.

Instagram opened doors and windows to connect with like-minded people. When it comes to content creation, the flow is tremendous. And it's not mere entertainment anymore. Personally, the idea of constant change and the ease of access to every corner of the world keeps me updated, motivated and helps me in innovation with my work.
Stress is dangerous!
“Had I pursued MBA”, this thought startles me, and my belief in ardent passion-following strengthens every single day. I love the work I do, which earns me bread and butter. So there is no stress or burden that I encounter. New assignments, new humans, and unique experiences keep me sane! It helps me understand the importance of every small business, product and the efforts behind it.
“Unconventional is the new conventional” has become the mantra within the youth today, and why not? If it keeps them active, sane and fit, it’s a win-win. Niche categories that international artists earlier dominated are now visibly being pursued by Indians.
The struggle is real!
Apart from getting the right kind of light and production for every shot, the biggest hurdle I face is the inability of the business owner to describe the requirements. At times, there is confusion which creates more turbulence in the team. Commercial Saurik Shah Photography is a process that begins with imagination – creating a mood board – planning Production ( Set/props) – Shooting and execution-- Selection and Post Production, which not everyone is aware of.
Don’t try this at home!
My genre of work ranges from food to cosmetics, and I learnt the word JUGAAD in a literal sense. We replaced mozzarella with fevicol while shooting for a pizza brand. A couple of months ago, while shooting for a luxury soap manufacturer, I had to shoot a cheesy looking soap that was so realistic, a visitor thought it was cheese and took a bite!
A note to self!
The essence of chasing your passion that one befriends TIME habituates with GROWTH and declining stress levels. One grows naturally with nurturing skills and a constant state of mental peace!
