KNOW THE PROCESS BEHIND THIS ACHIEVEMENT FROM THE ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE HEAD OF THE INSTITUTE

P T Sarvajanik college of science, affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat recently reached a milestone by getting A+ Re- accreditation by NAAC with 3.5 CGPA. The institution offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in different streams of science and is a prominent center for education in the city since a century. Also it is the largest and oldest science college to be affiliated to VNSGU, Surat.
Team HFM got some more insightful details about the process from one of the eminent member of the institution, Principal Dr. Pruthul Desai.
For this particular process an institute have to highlight the work done in last 5 years all the academic excellence, achievements in sports, extension activities, involvement of students in extracurricular activities, involvement of faculties in any of the research work, during the process of assessment by NAAC an institution has to compile all the above stated work and present the same to the authorities. The evaluation is done out of 1000 marks. The detailed procedure requires 70% faceless evaluation which includes proper documentation of word done and uploading it online. For the assessment of remaining 30% authorities from NAAC visits the campus and evaluate accordingly.

The teacher student relationship is a key factor in raising the bar high for any institution. NAAC expect from the teachers not only to just teach their respective subject but also get involve in overall progress and development of students “for example in our college we are organizing Nobel Prices lectures series, Nobel Prices are epitome of scientific achievements, these work are going to change the course of humanity. We invite an expert of the field from any of the premium institute to explain and interact with students about the research and discoveries and their significance”. Dr. Desai said. An institute gets credit of taking such initiatives.
Dr. Pruthul believes that motivation and inspiring the students to go and aspire for lofty careers is also one of the main job of a teacher and one should be conscious about their role and do it as sincerely as possible, this institute aims to build an environment where a student will come and will aspire to achieve higher goals. Inspite of all the administration duties as a principal he personally takes classes and teach students, this is his way to be as close to students as possible and maintaining such relation with the students where they come to him with their problems without any hesitation

Dr.Pruthul Desai was himself a undergraduate student at the institute and now is academically and administratively heading it. He shares with team HFM that he feels extremely lucky that he got this chance to head his Alma Mature, that he saw some dreams as a students here and now he got chance to work towards them in this same institute. He believes that the mindset and behavior of students has now changed tremendously, obviously for good. Students now a days are more expressive with their ideas and can communicate more clearly to anyone regardless of their age and gender unlike the time when he as student. He feels proud to be associated with this institute.
Dr.Pruthul Desai - Passionate cyclist
He started cycling about 14 years back for his own fitness and slowly that became a habit and now it has converted into a passion. He shared that now daily he cycle about 50 kms and because of his love for cycling they have started a cycling club in the collage itself where we have 30 cycles we rent them to students for a whole semester. We also go to various cycle treks with students and promote the overall benefits of cycling to mind and body.
