Being ordinary is so rare nowadays that finding someone like that is extraordinary. We interacted with one such Surti soul. Born and brought up in Surat, working in the diamond industry, extremely introvert person, is a family man, has a lovely spouse, is a father of two, and is a fitness freak, meet this extraordinarily ordinary personality, Mr Hitesh Bhadani.
Cycling, Running, Gymming, Photography, and the Diamond industry, you are into so many things, what is your favourite role?
Frankly, I can't choose one. Because I like all of them that’s why I am into these things. Every individual sector stands out in itself. And all of them satisfy the different cravings of my soul. Gymming and cycling are for physical fitness which I believe is very important for everyone, photography is my passion, Running marathons on the other hand is calmness for me, and the purpose of work is to earn a decent livelihood..
How do you balance work, life, and health?
First of all, I feel blessed that my family is with me in the fitness gig. My wife and even both my kids live a life which leans towards fitness. Four of us often go cycling together. And the second most important thing is living a planned and disciplined day to manage everything. For me, routine is a must.
When and how did fitness arrive in your life?
The gym has been always part of my day since I was 18, but marathons and cycling came in later years. Actually, all of it started with photography, ha..ha.. yes! When Surat held its first Marathon I was into photography and my photograph won the 1st prize. But then I wanted to be on the other side, I was like now I want to run. And from that day till today, there is nothing more calming for me than running. And till today I have participated in more than 50 marathons around India including Kutch and Leh Ladakh.
And as far as cycling is concerned, my 4 to 5 friends from photography days started cycling together and I also joined them and bought a cycle as a fun gig. Most of them left it in the initial days only, but I still have my feet on the peddles.
Tell us about your daily dose of motivation.
Nothing very special, but I just don’t like to sit ideal. Something has to go on actively. Either I am at the office or on work trips, or running, if not then cycling, just anything daily. And today, running and cycling is like my daily dose of medicine.
We have heard about one more authentic Surti side of you, that you are into Garba. So, what's your connection there?
Again, started as a fun gig with few friends. We started playing in a small group at Indoor Stadium, spontaneously collaborated with another such group, and then started wearing theme outfits & one day we won a prize, and when asked, on the spot named the group ‘Enjoy Garba group’. One after another things fell into place, and today Enjoy Garba Group consists of around 1000 members including students and instructors. We recently inaugurated the 2nd Garba Academy last month.
And as you guys know when we have such wise people in the room we generally manage to get some tips. Mr Bhadani also shared some of his life lessons and advice with us.
Stay away from Social media as much as possible and get a real life. Very important for both physical and mental health.
Avoid packaged food and especially do not give them to kids.
Eat home-cooked food, and eat 50 per cent veggies if possible.
