Set Your Angle, Breathe, and Shoot by Saurabh Desai

Hello Fitness Magazine

After years of practice and zeal, you’ll have loads of animals to decorate your walls. But, of course, we are talking about wildlife photography, duh!

Saurabh Desai, one of the most acclaimed and exceptional photographers and the founder of photography school Visual Poetry has decided to grace these pages of Hello Fitness Magazine with his beautiful and adventurous journey.

Visual Poetry

Saurabh Desai is a hard-core nature lover. He has grown up preserving nature and promoting education about it. Hence, he enjoyed so many adventure sports and games. Every minute within the lap of nature has made him fall for it more.

So much so that he had this compelling desire to exhibit this beauty to the world, who are unfortunate enough to witness it live. So, he named it ‘Visual Poetry’, literally meaning wordless poetry in the visuals captured by his camera!

No wonder this inspired the title of his debut book.

Worth capturing!

It is worth mentioning, or ‘capturing’ within these pages, that it has been more than 20 years since Saurabh Desai decided to hold a camera.

“I had picked the camera in 1998-1999 when I was in 11th grade. So, for more than 20 years, I have been into this wilderness, capturing natural beauty.”

Wild Muse

Saurabh, who has grown in the heart of nature, has always been inspired by it.

“Nature brings me close to myself, so nature and wildlife are my core genre.”

Thanks to that, Saurabh has decided to bring nature closer to us all!

Snow Leopard Expedition

So, snow leopards are the most elusive cats in the world of wildlife and are most challenging to capture in India. Hence, he decided to click a snow leopard.

In 2017, he spent 18 days in the peak winters of the Himalayas, where the warmest temperature is as low as -15 degrees. Yet, in his stay of 18 days, he couldn’t capture a glimpse of a snow leopard, let alone snap a picture.

Again, he tried in Ulley Valley in Ladakh, but no avail.

Then later, after talking to his friend, he decided to look for them in Spiti Valley, where it took him 5-6 days to reach.

But, at last, his prayers were answered, and his determination and hard work rewarded, for he spotted four individual snow leopards and witnessed them all 20 days of his stay.

Physical fitness in photo shooting

“Physical health helps you enjoy the process.”

Wildlife shooting requires too much vigour and strength than obvious. Hence physical health plays a significant role in the same.

Capturing pictures captures your mental health!

Wildlife photography is the game of patience. Hence, mental health is the critical player in this game.

“Search of happiness is the biggest reason for unhappiness. Rather, be happy in everything you are, and you have. Because being happy is the finest state of mental health. So stay happy even when it’s the hardest to.”
