Take some breaths. Slow and soft, because we learned, and so will you along the course of this article, that breathing right not just helps you live, but saves your life in oh so many ways. Thanks to Vaishnavi Jariwala to enlighten us on the same.
“Vaishnavi means Shakti, a power, a goddess, and that’s how I feel about myself.”
Hence, what got her within the pages of this issue is her knowledge and expertise as a Yoga Instructor.
Why Yoga?
Around seven years back, Vaishnavi suffered from sciatica and spondylitis leading to a mental breakdown. The conditions worsened and she had to consult a doctor who prescribed her some medicines. Two days later she felt, that her life is dependent on these pills.
“At the age of 26, I’d walk like an old lady. My body was so rigid that I couldn’t turn while sleeping, and my hand would rise only to some extent.”
She wished to start Yoga for a while, and the increasingly aggravating health issues alarmed her. So finally she enrolled herself in a yoga class.
Now, when we watch her bend and stretch into graceful yoga positions, it’s hard to believe she is the same person she claimed herself to be seven years ago.
“That’s why I feel I have the Shakti within.”
And yoga helped her overcome not only physical issues but mental and behavioural hiccups too.
“I used to be short-tempered and rude, but yoga helped tremendously. I am more stable now, and life seems peaceful.”
Vaishnavi Jariwala Qualifications
After 3 years as a student, her instructors asked her to visit Mysore, to take a Yoga Practitioner Course that would allow her to become an instructor herself!
“I was never really interested in teaching, but I went along, for my knowledge and growth,”
Vaishnavi giggles. She follows with twinkled eyes how enlightened she got over there.
“It changed my life. I got so aware of my body that I could feel changes in every muscle of my body.”
She got more spiritual and self-aware. “It’s as if all the teachers I met after starting yoga have been the guiding force for bringing me to this path.”
Pranayam helps you feel clean internally, and tones you from within. Every yoga asana provides us with very significant changes and helps us understand a lot about ourselves. For example, balancing asanas tell you how focused you are on your goals.
“If you are unable to balance, then it might mean that you are irresolute towards your goals. Hence while teaching, I ask my students to imagine and project a fixed focus point in front of their eyes, and it works wonders as they can balance now!”
And it works both ways. Learning balancing asanas, provide you with the much-needed stability and focus to achieve your goals.
Gee, there’s more to Vaishnavi Jariwala
Vaishnavi Jariwala, a proud Cancerian, is a fashion designer, NLP practitioner, and Pranic Healer, with an ongoing course in nutrition and dietetics.
Pranic healing too, she shares, has brought a lot of changes in her.
“It helped me to go through my father’s death. It was then that I realized that yoga and pranic healing has made me so mature and strong.”
She also gives us a book recommendation – You Can Also Heal Yourself, which helped her along her journey.
Advice to the readers
“Keep breathing. Every activity requires breathing. Conscious breathing brings awareness about every moment of your life. Soft and slow breaths. Dogs live shorter life because they breathe so fast, whereas turtles live 200 years. After all, they breathe 1 breath a minute. So take out one minute of your day, and breathe consciously. Take around 6-7 breaths a minute. Consistently do that and you can see positive changes in your life.”
